Bardolino Sommacampagna
The Sommacampagna subzone includes the parts of the municipal territories of Bussolengo, Pastrengo, Sommacampagna, Sona and Valeggio sul Mincio that lie within the Bardolino production zone.
It represents the south-eastern part of the D.O.C area, which substantially corresponds to what Perez described in 1900 as the “southern morainic hills”, which included the towns and villages “touching the high plain”, within the perimeter of the ancient district north of Villafranca.
Bardolino Sommacampagna
This is the subzone characterized by the highest average temperatures and by the most rainfall within the Bardolino area.
It includes the intermediate moraines, which represent the most varied hilly sector in the D.O.C., with their densely alternating hills, little valleys, terraces and basins, as well as the so-called Pastrengo moraines, the most external part of the Bardolino zone, characterized by the close proximity of a large number of ranges of hills and their subsequent erosion and separation into large stretches of land due to the effects of fluvio-glacial flows, which generated relatively wide valleys.
